At Great Northern Builders, we love helping our clients breathe new life into their outdated kitchen by creating a beautiful and functional design. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working on many kitchen remodels. While we try not to play favorites, there are some kitchen remodeling designs we get excited about time and time again. So, we thought we’d share five of our favorite kitchen design elements. Check them out below!
Timeless Design Details
When planning your kitchen remodeling design, it goes without saying you want it to last for as long as possible. After all, remodeling requires a big investment! There’s nothing as disheartening to find your design outdated just a few years down the road. With that in mind, you can’t go wrong with a kitchen featuring timeless design details! Think bright, white cabinets and classic elements like subway tile and elegant quartz countertops.
Two-Tone Cabinetry
Is an all-white kitchen not quite your speed? Two-tone cabinetry may be the perfect solution. We’ve been seeing more and more homeowners utilizing this design in their kitchen remodel lately. And, we can see why! A two-tone design is a great way to add dimension and visual interest to your kitchen. Opting for lower cabinets in a darker hue adds balance while the addition of lighter cabinets on top draws the eye upward. This trend can be customized according to your preference, too. Whether you create a two-tone effect with just your island cabinet or you want to mix and match painted and stained cabinets, the choice is yours!
Natural Wood Accents
A kitchen remodeling design we can totally get behind? Natural wood accents! Adding wood elements to your design not only looks beautiful but creates warmth. There are many different options for incorporating wood into your design, too. One of our favorite ways? Wrapping the kitchen island in wood planks. From shiplap to rough-sawn planks to reclaimed wood, the result is sure to wow! Some other options include open wood shelving, exposed ceiling beams, butcher block counters, and statement walls.
Beverage Stations
It may be small but what a beverage station lacks in size, it makes up for in function. This versatile space can be used as a coffee nook or a mini-bar, depending on your preferences. The countertop offers a convenient place to house your coffee maker, while the built-in cabinets can hold anything from coffee mugs to wine glasses to small appliances. Below the cabinets, a beverage fridge will keep drinks perfectly chilled while freeing up valuable real estate in the fridge. If you love to entertain, adding a beverage station to your kitchen remodeling design is a must! Having a designated area for drinks makes it easy for guests to help themselves to a beverage during a get-together.
Eye-Catching Range Hoods
Eye-catching range hoods are the perfect way to make a statement in your kitchen remodeling design. What’s really wonderful about this trend is the many different options to choose from. Range hoods can be found in a variety of materials and shapes, so finding one that complements your kitchen design is a breeze. To really help this focal point pop, consider adding a tile feature in between the range hood and the stove top like the kitchen pictured above.
