This 1940s home in Highland park, on the parkway may seem perfect at first glance, but with a grome. GNB worked close with the client and the architect to create a true walk in mudroom for all the kids and pets. A home office was added with corner windows to let as much natural light as possible. The kitchen portion of the renovation was challenging but needed. The importance of keeping the overall design and feel of the original home was recreated with tying in the same oak hardwood floors and refinishing them to deep rich stain. new doors were replicated match the nearly 80 year old originals and hand troweled plaster work was placed around the arches that were added to match the original ones throughout the home. A new roof, L.P. Smartside siding and all new Marvin Windows rounded off this amazing build. This home was also featured in the Parade of Homes Spring Preview in 2017. See if you can tell what is new or original.
